Oscar Azucena, University of Houston
Oscar is a senior in college and will graduate next year from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He plans to continue his education and obtain a Master's degree in Engineering. He hopes to continue his education to the highest level possible. Oscar was born in El Salvador. His mother and father came to America in search for a better future, a better life. He came to America in 1992. Carlos Andrés Cabrera, Canada College
Carlos is a junior Computer Engineering student at Canada College. Since his childhood, he has been deeply interested in the mysteries of science. His biggest dream is to make use of his skills, intelligence and knowledge for the development and evolution of humankind. Carlos has a particular interest in astrophysics, computer programming and circuit analysis. His role model is Dr. James Larkin, because he has been able to build a beautiful family while succeeding on reaching his academic and professional goals. Miguel is a senior at CSU Bakersfield and is interested in optics. He is the oldest of his brothers and the first in his family with the opportunity to attend a university. Donald has one year left of undergraduate studies and has decided to further his education in electrical engineering by applying to a Ph.D. program. He enjoys the academic lifestyle and has found research that really interests him. Donald wants to research ways to increase clock speeds for analog to digital conversion circuits. Diana recently completed her sophomore year at San Diego State University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. The types of careers that interest her are the kind where she can continue to learn and where she can potentially contribute her knowledge to the advancement of technology. Diana comes from a very loving and hard working Mexican family of five. She lived in Mexico for the first ten years of her life and has been in the U.S. for ten years. Erika is a sophomore at Skyline College who is majoring in computer engineering. She enjoys taking math course and would like to design, create new inventions and develop something in a more advanced or useful way. Hamadi McIntosh, University of California, Los Angeles
Hamadi just completed his first-year at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is currently undeclared; however, he anticipates changing his major to Astrophysics at the beginning of the next school year. He came to this decision based on his interest in learning why different physical phenomena occur as they do (physics) and his desire to explore space. He is considering working for NASA or doing some type of research. Monica currently attends Contra Costa Community College in San Pablo, California. This fall she will be transferring to the University of California, Berkeley. After two full years working as an optical assistant she became a nationally certified optician and contact lens technician.
