The Center for Adaptive Optics (CfAO) is one of a number of National Science Foundation funded Science and Technology Centers (STCs). Initial funding began in 2000. The goal of the STCs is the funding of basic reseach and education activities and to encourage technology transfer and innovative approaches to interdisciplinary programs.
